Class Description

Our standard Chinese classes have only up to 5 students per class. We believe that learning a foreign language in a small group setting makes young students more motivated and disciplined in their learning. Also, studying together with others and the interaction among classmates could provide extra stimulation during the learning process.

At Blue Sky eSchool, we prioritize Chinese learning into three levels: listening and speaking, reading, then writing. Our goal is to make learning Chinese effective, fun, and less stressful.

For students from non Chinese-speaking families, we have several textbooks which are popular at American schools. We will recommend the best fit textbook for our student once we have  information about the student.

Textbook Mei Zhou Hua Yu (美洲华语) is used for most students from Chinese-speaking families. This textbook includes topics and materials that students in North America are familiar with in their daily life which makes learning the language easier and more fun. We also have classes using textbooks from other publishers such as Ma Li Pin, Ren Jiao… etc.

The minimum requirement for each grade is to master about 120 characters a year. In addition to that, we also teach about 150 characters that the students are only required to understand. Also, the students need to learn an extra daily used phrase or expression each week. We include PinYin in our Level 1 curriculum of standard Chinese class. 

The eSchool now offers 10 levels of Chinese courses (Level 1 to Level 9, and AP Chinese). Grade 1  class is for students of age 6-7 who have never taken Chinese lessons before, or from non-Chinese speaking families. We believe that frequent exposure to a language is essential for language learning. So in our standard curriculum for lower level students, we offer the option of two lessons every week. Each lesson takes 1 hour 15 minutes. For students of higher levels, the standard class is one lesson each week, with 1.5 hours for each lesson.

We can customize class frequency and length for private and semi-private lessons.
